EARLY BIRD THERAPY is an independent Speech and Language Therapy service based in Essex and Suffolk. We provide a high quality service supporting children, young people and their families to develop all aspects of speech, language and communication.


WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Speech and Language therapy services to children and young people which can take place at home, nursery, school, at external agencies or via a virtual platform.
  • Assessment (formal and informal approaches) to identify areas of need and provide support to facilitate change for a variety of communication difficulties.
  • Personalised, targeted intervention based on current literature and evidence based practice.
  • Support for families and education staff to implement targets and strategies in to everyday routines.
  • Training opportunities to a variety of settings which can focus on universal strategies to promote speech and language development within a specific setting, or targeted training regarding a specific therapeutic intervention.


Speech and Language Therapists can help to support children and young people with a variety of communication difficulties including:

  • Attention and listening difficulties
  • Speech delay or disorder which may or may not relate to structural differences (for example cleft palate)
  • Receptive and/ or Expressive language difficulties
  • Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
  • Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia (DVD)
  • Social communication difficulties
  • Difficulties relating to language processing or auditory memory
  • Communication difficulties that relate to specific neurological or genetic diagnoses
  • Communication difficulties associated with deafness



MEET THE TEAM

  • About Hannah

    I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist having qualified from Essex University in 2013 via their Speech and Language Therapy Masters degree course. Since qualifying I have worked in a variety of settings including mainstream schools, language and hearing impairment resource bases, pre-school clinics and within hospital settings. I specialise in supporting children and young people with speech disorders relating to cleft palate, craniofacial diagnoses and developmental verbal dyspraxia (DVD). I have experience of working with children and young people with a variety of communication difficulties including deafness, developmental language disorder (DLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to name a few.  

    In my current NHS role I work as part of a multidisciplinary team and I strongly advocate for multiagency involvement to best support the needs of the child or young person.

    I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist having qualified from Essex University in 2009 via their Speech and Language Therapy Masters degree course having previously obtained an English Language (BA Hons) degree from Newcastle University. Since qualifying I have worked in a variety of special schools and mainstream schools and have specialised in supporting children with complex communication needs associated with, for example: Autism Spectrum Disorder, syndromic conditions, learning disability and difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder, acquired and degenerative conditions, as well as children and young people who require alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) to support or replace their speech. I have also specialised in supporting children, young people and adults with Dysphagia (feeding difficulties), including those with sensory processing needs related to and affecting feeding behaviour.
